Emergencies can strike at any time and the impacts can be complex, long-term and often hidden. People with MS and their families and friends are often more vulnerable to the impacts of emergencies and disasters. Preparing an emergency plan can give you and your person with MS the confidence and reassurance that you are ready to act if the need arises.

1. Identify your strengths and support needs in everyday life.

2. Know your level of preparedness and learn about your disaster risk.

3. Make a plan for how you will manage your support needs in an emergency.

4. Communicate the plan with the people in your support network and address gaps through collaboration.
