Frequently Asked Questions

The FACETS program was developed through a collaboration between Bournemouth University and Poole Hospital. The program was created by a team led by Dr. Sarah Thomas at Bournemouth University, in conjunction with clinicians from Poole Hospital. The development involved extensive research, pilot studies, and clinical trials

  • Energy conservation methods to balance activity and rest
  • Setting realistic goals and pacing activities
  • Problem-solving approaches for managing fatigue in daily life
  • A confirmed diagnosis of MS
  • Be an MS Plus client

Attending all sessions is highly recommended to gain the full benefits of the program. Each session builds on the previous one, so regular attendance helps reinforce the skills learned.

Yes, participants are encouraged to practice the techniques discussed during the sessions in their daily lives. Homework tasks may include keeping a fatigue diary, practicing pacing, and using cognitive strategies.

The FACETS program is specifically designed and tested to address fatigue in people with MS. As such, it is not available for individuals without MS. If you're interested in managing fatigue, you might consider consulting with an Occupational Therapist who can provide personalized strategies and support tailored to your needs.

Many participants report a better understanding of their fatigue, improved energy management, and an enhanced quality of life. However, results vary, and the program is most effective when the techniques are consistently applied.

The program is not a cure for MS-related fatigue but aims to provide tools and strategies to better manage and reduce the impact of fatigue on daily life.
