Koi Circle

This is a watercolour of two Koi carp swimming in a circle. Koi carp in Japanese culture symbolise determination, resilience and the ability to overcome obstacles. I thought that was a wonderful metaphor to depict life with MS. The Koi carp come in a myriad of colours and patterns like humans with no two being the same. Their Japanese representations are great ways to live our lives. Having the two Koi fish with different colours gives each one its own identity and adds to the painting. The simplicity of this painting is what I wanted to achieve as there is no need for any further detail. The two fish are swimming in a circle which seems to represent life at its simplest path. The shadow of the Koi just gives some dimension to the fish and the water they are swimming in.
