Mr Bana No and Miss Andre

2026
Ceramics

Mr Bana No and Miss Andre explores through ceramics the rarely spoken of realities of living with Multiple Sclerosis and the complexities of sexual dysfunction. The work reflects the emotional and physical strain, frustration and self-directed anger that arise from attempting to meet the misogynistic expectations of a "normal" sex life. Rendered in a playful, caricature-like form, the figures embody repressed feelings and reactive, volatile desires, viewed through the lens of Misandry. Beneath the surface tension lies a search for understanding, with the peace lilly symbolising a fragile hypothetical forgiveness - an offering of quiet reconciliation amid conflict, vulnerability and the complexities of the altered body.
