The strength of a whale is visible but there is more to the animal underneath the water. Having MS is similar to that as we seem so strong to outsiders but what we show to the outside is different from our inside as we try to hide our true feelings and fragility. I do not hear other sufferers complaining about their MS experiences and symptoms as we all hide our frustrations and pain to not load it onto others. Using a whale to represent myself shows how I wish I was as free and agile as they are. My MS body is not as agile anymore as the whale is, with the mobility problems I have due to MS. However I keep swimming every day as best I can. I wanted to somehow paint an image that would communicate the above-the-surface experience of having MS and also the below-the-surface representation of living with MS.
