A self portrait exploring life with Multiple Sclerosis, this work reflects my desire to appreciate my changing, deteriorating body - especially it's sensuality. It also explores the necessity of being desired by others, looking beyond the disability, sometimes just remembering past liaisons. I hand crafted the tile before etching and painting my image, then layered crocheted cotton soaked in liquid clay to form curtain like texture. The cotton burns away in the kiln, it leaves delicate, lace-like impressions. The process is messy, playful and deeply reminiscent of childhood creativity.
