You've Got Time

Deanna Renee

2025
digital collage created using a combination of layered photography, textures, and digital illustration. I used software, Photoshop and Canva.

This piece is inspired by the lived experience of invisible illness and the framework of Spoon Theory. It carries a message of compassion, slowness, and permission to rest, especially for those navigating life with chronic illness or disability. So often, those of us living with disability learn to push through, stretching ourselves beyond our energy limits just to keep up. It’s something I’ve done for years and something I’m actively trying to unlearn. We live in a world that glorifies urgency and productivity, but this artwork invites the viewer to pause. Unclench your jaw. Release the tension in your shoulders. Slow your breath. Breathe. Before your spoons melt away. Time is not the enemy, it’s a companion. It gives us space to rest, reflect, and honour our own body’s needs. Whether you’re chasing dreams, managing daily tasks, or simply surviving the moment, your pace is valid. Your rest is necessary. Your progress matters. This piece is a gentle reminder that life isn’t a race. Every breath, every pause, every quiet victory is part of the journey, and remember, you’ve got time.
